It is with great excitement we launch the Yorke Peninsula’s (Guuranda) inaugural Art Festival, GROUNDED.

Planning for this 10-day event began in 2022, and the formal launch date will be Friday, 11 August 2023. GROUNDED - YP Art Festival will take place in various forms across several YP towns until Sunday, 20 August 2023. We will be showcasing exhibitions, performances, live music, artisan products and activities.

Within GROUNDED, Ardrossan, Yorketown (Garrdinya) and Edithburgh (Bararmaradi) will continue to hold the traditional exhibitions of visual art, photography and sculpture however, the shift of date is due to the often-unmanageable surge of tourism at Easter and long weekends. August is a more favourable time as it coincides with the state-wide celebration of the SALA Festival (South Australian Living Artists Festival), and we can connect with the respected Yorke Classic Surfing Competition.

GROUNDED will continue the tradition of the prestigious art competition prize and expand to offer more: music, dance, performing arts, artisan foods, beverages, products etc. We’re excited to incorporate more towns to create a comprehensive and immersive festival atmosphere.

In 2023, GROUNDED – YP Art Festival will continue the traditional three exhibitions showcasing a diverse range of artwork. Entry will be open to all residents in Australia, offering exceptional exposure and generating further opportunities for local businesses.

GROUNDED - YP Art Festival will be open to the public from Friday, 11 August until Sunday, 20 August.

A place for locals and visitors alike to experience and appreciate the artistic talent of the YP and in South Australia. We’ll be showcasing exhibitions, performances, live music, artisan products and activities.

Why GROUNDED?

What’s in a name? Yorke Peninsula’s ground is ancient, significant, and productive. Shack owners escape to Yorkes for its grounding and calming effect.  Our community sets its roots deep down into the ground and works hard to produce excellent things for our people. Our ground is fertile in practical and figurative ways. Art is often healing, inclusive and ground-breaking; it keeps us grounded.

The Grounded festival seeks to inspire and grow the celebration of the arts on Guuranda, Yorke Peninsula, by nurturing our creatives: traditional owners, the Narungga People, residents, property owners and visitors. By offering numerous platforms for important storytelling and expression, we can connect with each other in meaningful ways.
